Description Richard Llom 2013-01-30 16:02:53 UTC
I would like to use the (web) back button on my mouse in KDE windows, where you have this back arrow in the upper left corner of the window. For example, but not limited to:
system-settings
paketmanagers (apper, muon)

But it would also be useful in other apps/widget where you switch a lot back & forth between screens, for example in Kmenu.

PS:
Not so sure about the component, hope this is the right place.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start System-settings and open one of the sub-items (printers for example)
2. Notice the back-arrow in the upper left corner.
3. Hit backspace or use the back button of your mouse
Actual Results:
Nothing happens.

Expected Results:
One should get taken one step back, to the overview of the system settings.
There is also no other convenient way to do so.

This cannot be fixed at a single place, please report this for each application individually.

I am reassigning this one to System Settings application.

Ok, however I'll wait for feedback first, before I may fill additional bugs/requests.
Comment 3 Christoph Feck 2013-02-04 22:47:53 UTC
I do not understand, what feedback are you waiting for?
Comment 4 Richard Llom 2013-02-04 23:34:16 UTC
Well maybe there is a reason that this is not done (yet). I don't want to duplicate this request two/three times only to find out that it cannot be done.

Also this bug isn't confirmed yet.

I was thinking about posting in KDE brainstorm, what would you suggest?

System settings support back by Alt+Left

This is being fixed in Kirigami ColumnView (see Bug 436790), so if we port System Settings' sidebar to use ColumnView, it'll benefit from that fix too and this will work automatically. We probably should since the sidebar basically has a DIY implementation of ColumnView; no reason to avoid using the library component

No longer reproducible
