Description Gerald Cox 2013-01-25 02:10:56 UTC
I'm using KGet with Firefox via Flashgot. Flashgot is a Firefox extension which allows you to use external download managers. Flashgot supports sending the current session cookie from Firefox. This works fine with cURL and Wget. However, KGet does not currently support this function.

I did try KGet integration with Konqueror, and cookies are preserved between Konqueror and KGet and the transfer does complete; however this doesn't help if you want to use another browser.

Flashgot / Firefox does work with KGet for sites that do not require the session cookie to be preserved.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Firefox with Flashgot extension enabled
2. Configure Flashgot to use KGet as the external download manager
3. Login into secured website with user credentials to download files
4. Select a file to download
5. Transfer does not complete because session cookie not being accepted by KGet
Actual Results:
Download.aspx file is downloaded. The contents of this file state:
"User session is expired or not logged in. Login to download file!"

Expected Results:
File is downloaded sucessfully.

URL for Flashgot extention site is: http://flashgot.net

It is fairly common now for sites to protect their content with logon credentials. This functionality has long been built into cURL and WGet.

Flashgot currently not supported in Fx Quantum - so functionality doesn't currently exist to launch kget from Fx.
