Please introduce direct algebraic notation, which basically means that you can type in your operation as you would write them on a sheet. For example: 2+8x3 , currently you would have to calculate the product (8x3) first and then you can add 2. (see als o the pictures below, for a better understanding) I'm used to this from my older calculator: http://http://u.jimdo.com/www15/o/s70a5098c41b7a29a/img/iccbe66f26e1969c1/1279200386/std/image.jpg but it is also state of the art in newer calculators: http://http://www.tcsok.com/sales/Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS Scientific Calculator_1.jpg And related to this (but i can also open another bug for this): I would like to have a log / history side-window to kcalc, see for example: http://http://www.lisisoft.com/imglisi/10/Calculators/1920bc_big.gif Reproducible: Always
Just noticed, all the links got messed up (I don't know why). If you scrap the first "http://" from them, they work fine.
> 2+8x3 , currently you would have to calculate the product (8x3) first and then you can add 2 Cannot reproduce. Typing 2+8*3= into kcalc, I get 26, not 30. Which KDE version do you use? > I would like to have a log / history side-window That's bug 61685.
(In reply to comment #2) > Cannot reproduce. Typing 2+8*3= into kcalc, I get 26, not 30. Oh, you are right. I didn't notice this yet. However, this request is more about that you can actually enter a formula / different operations at once and they stay in the display until returned. Yesterday, I somehow missed the words for that (sorry), but it should be clear from the images. So this is not about the notation, but rather about the display for a more failsafe calculation, also with the log. Currently you have no way of controlling what you have typed in, i.e. if the result is actually the wanted result. > > I would like to have a log / history side-window > > That's bug 61685. I don't think so, if you search for "paper tape calculator", you will see it is something different than to my example posted above. Actually with my approach you wouldn't need the paper tape for checking. (But if someone is used to, it may be still needed/worth.)
Is that covered by bug 77158?
Thanks, for looking out - you are right. I changed the bug title to match only the history request. Added: bug 77158 as depends on, bug 61685 as see also
