When I connect to another machine remotely using a NX session (which is far faster than a normal X session), Konsole is terribly slow. It sometimes takes it a second to repaint itself. This makes using it almost impossible. I had to install gnome-terminal for that. And works very fast. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log on to KDE remotely using NX (or, perhaps, normal X) 2. Launch Konsole and open it to occupy as much space as possible. 3. Try using it. Actual Results: Konsole is very slow to repaint itself. You can type something on the keyboard and wait for a second for the text to appear. When the text scrolls it becomes a nightmaire. Expected Results: It should be fast. Other terminal emulators are way faster.
Try "konsole --notransparency" to see whether that makes difference. I have never used NX, but I don't recall having that kind of problem when using remote X.
I am afraid it does not make a difference. The speed of repainting is as slow as without "--notransparency" flag. When I run "find /" I can clearly see as the text in konsole is updated in waves going from top to the botton. Each such update takes about half a second.
KDE4/konsole is no longer maintained; reopen if you can still reproduce this issue with a recent konsole version.
