Description Gerald Senarclens de Grancy 2013-01-22 11:05:42 UTC
If auto completion for abbreviations is enabled, I couldn't find a way to undo an undesired auto-completion (tried Esc, Backspace, ...). Ctrl+z undoes the completion, but it is immediately re-done.

reproduce:
- enable "auto completion for abbreviations" (in settings->configure kile; kile->complete)
- in the same area select the abbreviations tab and enable fastex
- type "de"

expected:
- "de" is replaced by $e$
- there is any combination to press to undo the completion and continue typing any word starting with "de"

actual:
- "de" is replaced by $e$
- I found no way of undoing the replacement

note:
Simply turning off "auto completion for abbreviations" (see screenshot) is a nice workaround; they can be inserted on Ctrl+Space and undone w/ Ctrl+z; however, it's unfortunate that the box making suggestions for possible completions isn't shown if "auto completion for abbreviations" isn't ticked. Maybe there could be a separate option for "show suggestions for auto completion for abbreviations" independent of automatically triggering the completion.

I completely agree.

I would say that "Auto completion for abbreviations" is simply useless as it is implemented!

Without a way to cancel abbreviation auto completion it is simply impossible to write words which start with the same letters of any abbreviation.

For the sake of consistency, I think it should work like "Auto completion for LaTeX markup", which is less intrusive by just providing suggestions.

If not, it should provide a way to undo the replacement. In this case it would be nice to include abbreviations in the suggestion box even if "Auto completion for abbreviations" is off ().
