its been too many release, this is terrible.
just take it out.

I hate to be using Terminator, as I prefer the terminal engine of Konsole. but I need proper split screen. so I have to give up on Konsole. I was hoping with would have get fixed in 4.10 but not yet...

some quick use cases:
1) right click -> split (not available ?!?)
2) view -> split left/right OK... tabs are duplicate and they should not but it works kinda....
    view -> split top/bottom OUCH !!! it removed the left/right split and now I have three konsoles on top of each other... that's not what I wanted ... I want to split on of the two in two.

Konqueror in KDE 2.x could do that. actually, that was THE killer feature of KDE 2.0
Konqueror replacing KFM with Split screens and KParts being able to load whatever app you wanted.... 

please give us proper split screen we have HD 27" now and I can have 9 terminals open on 1 tab sometimes.

Hmm, just a quick reply:

As one contributor, I don't like the spliting design(not by me) in KDE4 konsole, either. But I'm afraid it is unlikely to change in the 4.x series, for a few reasons:

1. It is not easy to change. Or, it is easy to change with some hack (I tried), but not easy to get a proper implementation as you and I would want it to be. The current split design is deeply rooted. I even have no idea how many regressions will be introduced by that design change. It is not good ieea to make such risky change when we are already at 4.10.


2. Some users may rely on this design. No matter how strange it looks like, some uses can just find the way to make use of it and thus rely upon it.  It is not good idea to remove features, especially when we are already at 4.10


That is it. Repeat, I don't like it and want to change it. But don't expect it to happen soon.

I really wish some real split view will happen for 5.0

in the mean time, I don't think this bug report adds a lot of value.
