Description Silver Salonen 2013-01-14 12:36:26 UTC
I have upgraded to 4.10 RC2 (from RC1) and now all Akonadi-related stuff seems to be not working. Eg. KMail IMAP resources, DAV calendar resources, Nepomuk file indexing.
I tried adding new DAV resource, but once the resource is added, no wizard pops up.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open some application using Akonadi resource (eg. KOrganizer or KMail)
Actual Results:
Application shows no information, ie. KMail's folder list is empty etc, KOrganizer's events' and todo list is empty too.

Expected Results:
Data should be shown.
Comment 1 Silver Salonen 2013-02-06 07:58:31 UTC
Maybe I could give more information? I now have KDE 4.10.0, but I still cannot use Akonadi :(
Comment 2 Laurent Montel 2013-02-06 09:08:30 UTC
Try to test on a new user.
Look at if akonadi works in new user.
Comment 3 Sebastian Wessalowski 2013-02-06 12:32:47 UTC
I may have (or had) the same issue.

With KDE 4.10-RC1 i updated to akonadi 1.9.0. After the update i wasnt able to use sqlite as the db backend. I was able to use mysql. But after upgrading to 4.10 final it also broke. It just stops working after reading some data.
The last message i get is
The stream parser raised an exception: Unable to read more data

I have tried akonadi with a new user account. Everything was working fine with RC3

which distribution ?
Comment 5 Sebastian Wessalowski 2013-02-06 17:38:10 UTC
Gentoo Linux with KDE built from the kde overlay.
Comment 6 Martin van Es 2013-02-07 19:58:18 UTC
This may be related to #312687
My Akonadi/Sqlite configuration stopped working after updating KDE to 4.10.0 using Kubuntu backports repository. After switching to Mysql and reconfiguring all resources everything worked fine again. I'd prefer to go back to sqlite.
Comment 7 Sebastian Wessalowski 2013-02-08 01:28:26 UTC
This bug does not belong to my problem anymore. Downgrading openssl to 1.0.1c fixed the problems.

My problem was Bug #314587
Comment 8 Silver Salonen 2013-02-15 09:55:20 UTC
In my case with new user both KMail and KOrganizer work totally fine.
Comment 9 Hunter 2013-02-15 21:04:37 UTC
I am having a similar problem after upgrading from Linux Mint 13 KDE to Linux Mint 14 KDE. Akonadi refuses to run. From the Akonadi Server Self-Test - KDE Control Module, I get the following errors:

MySQL Server Log contains errors.
Akonadi control process not registered at D-Bus.
Akonadi server process not registered at D-Bus.
No resource agents found.
Current Akonadi server error log found.
and
Previous Akonadi server error log found.

Also, I am a relative newbie. I upgraded using a live DVD. Afterwards, I restored my software and data from USB sticks. Additionally, when I upgraded, the hard drive was divided into two partitions, with a smaller sub-partition (I assume Linux Swap) on the second. It appears as thought the operating system is on one drive and the data/media on the other.
Comment 10 Hunter 2013-03-04 18:55:39 UTC
Having found no solution, I tried starting Akonadi with the following command: akonadictl start. This is what it produced:

hunter-Lenovo-IdeaPad-P580 ~ # akonadictl start

"akonadiserver" crashed too often and will not be restarted!

Any thoughts?
Comment 11 Silver Salonen 2013-03-13 20:09:08 UTC
I did:
akonadictl stop
mv .local/share/akonadi .local/share/akonadi.bak
mv .config/akonadi .config/akonadi.bak
mkdir .kde4/share/config/akonadi.bak
mv .kde4/share/config/akonadi*rc .kde4/share/config/akonadi.bak/
mv .kde4/share/apps/akonadi_nepomuk_feeder .kde4/share/apps/akonadi_nepomuk_feeder.bak
mv .kde4/share/apps/akonadi-davgroupware .kde4/share/apps/akonadi-davgroupware.bak

And started over with Akonadi. It works now.

I kept the backups in case any developer is interested in debugging and wants me to try or check anything.
Comment 12 Denis Kurz 2016-09-24 20:40:00 UTC
This bug has only been reported for versions older than KDEPIM 4.14 (at most akonadi-1.3). Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a recent version of akonadi (part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 13 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 22:39:37 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
