If a vorbis-tagged file does have multiple artists amarok only recognizes the first artist. By the vorbis tag specification the possibility of having multiple ARTIST tags is possible and encouraged: http://www.xiph.org/vorbis/doc/v-comment.html (see section "Implications") Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. metaflac --set-tag="ARTIST=artist1" --set-tag="ARTIST=artist2" file.flac 2. open file.flac in amarok 3. be sad Actual Results: amarok only recognizes artist1 as artist Expected Results: amarok recognizes tagged available artists
Because Amarok doesn't handle vobis tags, it only uses id3 tags. Moving to wishlist.
that's weird because it reads and writes vorbis tags with no problems on my gentoo system and I could not see any special patches. (well, yes, except some limitations like this)
I think Amarok reads & writes vorbis tags, but only the first artist, genre, etc tag. To me it seems your report is a duplicate of the following wish: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119539 It was reported in 2005 and has a lengthy discussion of a possible implementation. Ralf Engels stated there he already began to work on it. I too would like to see that feature in Amarok :)
Thank you for spotting this, I marked it as a dependency rather than a duplicate, as it is for vorbis tags, not id3
