The folder icon (size) displayed in the information panel is consistent for all folders/data/media content except for image files. Hovering over any folder that contains an image file results in a larger (512px?) preview folder being displayed in the information panel. This occurs whether "Show preview of files and folders" is enabled or not, and is further to the inconsistent folder size. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Hover any selection of folders not containing image files in Dolphin. Note the consistent (non preview style), (folder size) in the information panel. 3. Now hover a folder containing an image file. Note the preview folder image shown and the increased folder size in the information panel. Actual Results: See above. Expected Results: Consistency. None.
Thanks for the report, I can confirm this.
dolphin 17.12.2 has the same bug on Arch Linux.
What's the actual bug here? That the icon displayed in the Information Panel always shows a preview for images, even if image previews are turned off for icons? If so, perhaps we can change that now that we turned previews on by default.
Created attachment 111155 [details] demonstration icon size of a folder containing pictures is bigger than the icon size of a folder containing no picture.
So yeah, this is what I said: icons with previews (including folders) are displayed larger than icons without previews (including folders). I suppose we could just make all non-previewed icons larger? to match the size of the preview versions. But that might be kind of ugly.
The bug here is that the information panel does not check whether the show-preview settin is enabled.
Still valid for dolphin 18.08.1 on Arch Linux.
