Description Peter Stein 2013-01-10 00:56:50 UTC
We bought to HP Laptops (HP 2000) in 07/2012. It was possible to install Suse 11.4 and everything except the wireless Interface run fine. Therefore we changed to Suse 12.2 to have the driver for the newer Wlan in the kernel. The Computer does not startup without using the failsafe option. Using the normal option the system stop at the line
"Started LSB: Susefirewall2 phase 2l"
I tested Grub and Grub2 but it did not made a difference.
The Computer is running fine by using the failsafe option except the power settings and the screensaver, which is not selectable. If the system switch to standby you have to restart the whole system. The control center crashes by selecting the screensaver.
I use Suse since 1999 and I would say I have some experiences except compiling new kernels.

Please read http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Submitting_bug_reports to find out how to ask for help with the openSUSE distribution.

I found the reason for my own Problem. Suse stopped to support the AMD readon HD graphics from Version 12 on. The driver is not in the Suse software package anymore and need to be installed manually. The driver can be found here:
http://de.opensuse.org/SDB:AMD/ATI-Grafiktreiber
The Installation runs automatically, but is unofficial. The unofficial AMD-Repo of Bruno Friedmann has to be used for this.
