Description Simon Matthews 2012-12-31 01:15:58 UTC
The touchscreen does not respond in Plasma Active. It does respond in Unity on the same install.

Reproducible: Always

OS: Ubuntu 13.04
PPAs in use: kubuntu-active-ppa-raring; kubuntu-ppa-beta-raring; kubuntu-ppa-experimental-raring; xorg-edgers-ppa-raring
Touchscreen: Atmel maXTouch Digitizer 03eb:212a

If I Alt+F2 and run Firefox I am able to touch within Firefox fine.

I'm experiencing similar problems with the Atmel maXTouch Digitizer.
If I click on the icons in the status bar, they do change color/highlight as if the mouse pointer is over them, but nothing happens other than that.

If I start konsole or Firefox, touching works as expected.

Like Simon, i'm also using Ubuntu 13.04, with only the kubuntu-active-ppa for the plasma active packages. Therefore I am not entirely sure this is a plasma active issue or a ubuntu packaging/configuration issue.

I have the same problem with getting plasma to respond properly to touch events, and I'm on Mint 14. As other have indicated if I tap on an icon in a plasma widget (application launcher in this case) it will behave as if I've hovered the pointer over it, but clicking fails.

The upstream project is not responsible for system integration in all operating systems. We maintain the system integration only for the operating systems we produce images for. This is for the obvious reason that we are not the ones dong the system integration elsewhere.

We know touch events do work when the QML stack is properly built and integrated because the work properly on the systems we do that work on (and we've done it on multiple OSes over the last 3 releases)

The problems reported here will need to be addressed by the *buntu derivatives mentioned in the individual reports. Please report the issue directly to those projects. Thanks :)

I am experiencing the following with ordinary (not Active) Plasma:
- with Workspace set to Desktop touch taps work
- even when setting the desktop to Find and Search
- with Workspace set to Netbook, select works, tap not

This is with KDE4.14, QT4.8.6 from Kubuntu Trusty Backports.

I find it hard to believe that this is a downstream issue.

Please reopen.
