Description julo 2001-08-21 08:26:10 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kdesktop
Version: unknown (using KDE 2.2.0 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: Linux-Mandrake 8.0 (Traktopel) - Unsupported
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Linux-Mandrake 8.0 2.96-0.48mdk)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.3-20mdk
OS/Compiler notes:

Here is how to see the bug:

 - Create a text file on the desktop
 - Open it with kwrite
 - Write something
 - Save it
 - Rename the file
 - The file icon now looks like a gear (like an executable)
 - Open it again using "open with..."
 - Tada ! the text file now contains the following data:
     [Desktop Entry]
     Name[fr]=test2

PS: that bug happens only on the desktop it works fine within konqueror.

This was a nasty one! I never thought to test renaming non-desktop files on
the desktop. Anyway I fixed this by making sure that the file has a
[Desktop Entry] group before writing to the file. This is back-ported to the
KDE_2_2_BRANCH so the fix should appear in KDE 2.2.1
