Description braves 2012-12-14 15:37:32 UTC
This occurs under Ubuntu 12.04 when running in a Virtual Box environment
The KMyMoney Menu bar does not 'stick' with the KMyMoney window when it is resized. Rather, it stays attached just below the VirtualBox Menu line. So if I resize the KMyMoney window
and move it, the Window is disconnected from its Menu.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install KMyMoney in a Virtual Box environment
2. Open KyMyMoney
3. Resize KMyMoney window from the default full-screen size and move to another position down and to the right.
4. Now look for the KMyMoney menu. It is not contained in the window title. Look at the top of the Virtual Box window just under the Virtual Box Menu. There is a bar with "KMyMoney" as its title. Put the cursor over "KMyMoney" and the KMyMoney Menu bar should appear. If not, the you are seeing something different that I am seeing.
Actual Results:
As stated.

Expected Results:
Menu should be within the KMyMoney window.

version 4.6.1 running under Ubuntu 12.04. Ubuntu is running as a guest OS in a Oracle Virtual Box environment on a Windows 7 host (with automatic updates on). Virtual Box version is 4.2.4r81684 (latest).

To be sure we have the right picture, as it were, could you please provide a screen-shot.

I did a search for 'ubuntu 12.04 menubar disconnected from window' and found several references -

"The same is true for Ubuntu 12.04. The difference is that the default desktop environment in Ubuntu is the Unity interface, which I hate. It's not that it's unusable, I just find it annoying. The window menus have been moved up to the top-of-screen menu bar, disconnected from the window itself..!"
and
"I like the menus to be on the apps window not disconnected at the top of
the screen. "

They sound similar and I think they are a feature of Unity saving screen-space. When you are logging in to Ubuntu, is there a button allowing choice of desktop?

Are you running Unity in 3D mode? Can you try the fallback mode, or viceversa?

This is a very old bug report and I do not remember filing it. Not sure how I missed the communications from you over all that time, but please close it as it is no longer relevant.

Thanks.
