Description Francesco Noacco 2012-12-13 23:52:19 UTC
Is a life that I look forward to the Drag & Drop buttons to quickly open windows applications reduced to icons in the taskbar. Are no different from Dolphin tabs (they only need a communications port that already exists in the white space of the window, is not it?).
Depending on the target program will only accept data passed, (for example, a graphics image, word processor or multiple text documents), or ask if you copy / move.

Reproducible: Always

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think what you're proposing is that, when dragging-and-dropping something onto a launcher in the task manager widget, the program for that launcher should open with the dropped contents as an argument? For example, dragging-and-dropping an image onto GIMP would open that file in GIMP? This is already the behavior for launchers that are *not* bound to the task manager, so this would certainly make sense (in fact, I was about to file the same report before I found this one).

I understand that English probably isn't your first language, but this bug would probably get more attention if the issue was stated more clearly. :) Perhaps you could change the title to something like "Task manager launchers should accept drag-and-dropped contents as arguments"?

Now, this does raise the issue of how to handle dragging-and-dropping to a launcher that also represents a currently opened window. I attached a mock-up screenshot showing how this might be resolved, which should be self-explanatory.

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
