kde 4.9.4 brother mfc-j825dw when hitting ctrl-p to bring up the print dialogue and then options>options tab, the duplex printing option is greyed out, even though the printer driver supports it, and the support is even shown if you go to system settings> printer configuration> printer options tab, there will be an entry/option that says : "Two-Sided" with options "Long-Edge Binding", "Short-Edge Binding" and "Off".
print-manager has nothing to do with that dialog, it's from Qt please report the bug there, Thanks.
Actually there's a print-dialog component in kdelibs
Actually, this bug exists. Duplex printing in kde 4.9 on linux mint 14 is broken. That's right. KDE 4.9 still can't print correctly. Big surprise there, huh?
I can confirm this bug on Kubuntu 14.10. I can’t select any duplex option when printing with Okular or KMail while LibreOffice ist able to do duplex printing without problems. This bug affects me after an upgrade from Kubuntu 14.04. Before that, duplex printing from Okular worked as expected. If this indeed is a Qt bug please let me know, so I can report it there.
Confirm, broken in kde 4.12.5 , kde 4.19 (Mageia 4 and 5). As a side note, printer classes do display the duplex options (active, working).
I guess this is the corresponding Qt bug, although for Qt5: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-46093 A quick browse in the source of kdelibs/kutils/... suggests that KDE has little to do with printer options; they seem to be in Qt.
I seem to have nailed the "bug" in Qt (the one above), but this may require non-trivial changes, unlikely to be fixed in stable branches. In the meanwhile, looking for the corresponding CUPS failure.

Closing this as this has nothing to do with this component as stated earlier.
