Once it reaches the time to dim the display, the display brightness rapidly switches back and forth between 10% (the normal brightness I have set in settings) and 0% ("dim"). The computer becomes extremely slow in the process and I am forced to restart the computer because the rapid brightness changes will not stop even if I move the mouse. I did not have this happen in 4.9.80 (4.10 beta 1?), but it happens in 4.9.90 (4.10 beta 2?). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Power Management settings and set the display to dim after X minutes (I used 2). 2. Leave the computer untouched until the display dims. Actual Results: The display rapidly switches back and forth between the "dim" brightness and the original brightness. The brightness bar that shows up when the brightness is adjusted manually will also appear and show the brightness rapidly switching, and I have never noticed the brightness bar appear when the display is automatically dimmed. Expected Results: The display should have only been dimmed. OS: Kubuntu 13.04 64-bit, using KDE 4.9.90 (4.10 beta 2?), with "raring-proposed" repository enabled. PC: Asus K55N Laptop CPU/GPU (APU): AMD A8-4500M with AMD Radeon HD 7640G graphics RAM: 2x4GB DDR3-1600 Linux Kernel: 3.7-rc8 Screen Resolution: 1366x768 Display Driver: AMD Catalyst (fglrx) 12.11 Beta
Same problem here, brightness seems to be pretty messed up (4.9.95). Flicker can be stopped by manually setting the normal brightness using brightness control buttons.
In addition to this, the screen brightness bar keeps appearing on the screen.
I see this screen brightness flickering when my laptop (Thinkpad T410s) has been running for some time and I unplug it. The brightness bar jumps between 10% and 60%.
System with identical problem to above: OS: Kubuntu 12.10 32-bit, using KDE 4.9.95, with Beta PPA repository enabled. PC: Acer Aspire 1410 Laptop / 2Gb RAM CPU/GPU: Intel Celeron 723 @ 1.20GHz with Intel Mobile 4 / Mesa DRI Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset x86/MMX/SSE2 Linux Kernel: 3.5.0-21 Screen Resolution: 1366x768
I cannot reproduce this anymore since 4.10.0
Is this still reproducible in 4.10 or 4.11? Thanks !
Closing for inactivity. If you can still reproduce this with 4.11, please feel free to re-open the bug. Thanks !
