Description Mathias Dietrich 2012-11-19 14:09:03 UTC
It would be nice if Dolphin displays the cover of audio files, that is embedded in the file, in preview mode.

Gnome has this within Nautilus and it would be cool if dolphin could do this too.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Take an audio file and embed a cover, e.g. via Kid3.
2. Move to the file with dolphin
3. Select "Show Preview" in Dolphin
Actual Results:
The generic icon for audio files is shown.

Expected Results:
The embedded artwork of the audio file is shown.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Note to anyone who is interested in implementing this: Strictly speaking, this is not a Dolphin issue. The preview plugins live in

there's this plugin "AudioTumbs" that could be checked and merged upstream in kdemultimedia.

could someone forward this bug to kdemultimedia devs?
this feature is a nice to have one

Can we get this upstream into KDE offically ? The thumbnailer is very compact and works well here in KDE 4.10.5

Anyone who is willing to contribute the code to kde-multimedia and maintain it in the future should probably send a message to kde-multimedia@kde.org or ask for it to be moved to kdereview and then send a request for inclusion in KDE to kde-core-devel@kde.org.
