Description Iain Lennon 2012-11-16 04:57:16 UTC
This has been bugging me for a while, but I kept hoping it would get fixed.

I use 4 activities, three of which are Search and Launch pages, the fourth a standard desktop.
I've repeatedly added favourite icons to each of the S&L pages. However, after an unknown event (might be a few hours, might be a few days) on restart the icons become reset to the openSUSE defaults.

Generally I can reboot a few times with icons as I expect. However, it is extremely frustrating.
Backgrounds, panels and the standard desktop are unaffected as are favourited icons in the kickoff launcher

I have no idea how to get to the bottom of this.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up some favourite icons
2. Reboot the computer and log in
3. occasional effect
Actual Results:
Reset of favourite icons in Search and Launch to default

Expected Results:
Persistance of favourite icons between sessions

I have completely deleted my KDE directory in an attempt to fix this to no avail

Hello!

This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug is already resolved in Plasma 5.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
