I see this often after upgrading my system to the Akonadi/Nepomuk infrastructure.

This stuff should at least provide some sort of progress bar so the user knows what's going on. After leaving it thrashing my hard drive overnight it finally finished whatever it was doing by the next morning, but even after that I frequently see huge amounts of IO from the Akonadi processes and the mixedmaildir resource sucks up all available memory.

Add a printscreen of ksysguard so I can see which processes are eating memory, and reopen the bug.
