Description Mangas 2012-11-05 00:20:18 UTC
- Not using system proxy configuration
 - When the proxy is configured in account's advanced settings it is used but in case the proxy is not acessible ktp connects directly and shows no information to the user which i think should not be the default behavior

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure system proxy
2. Stop the proxy
3. Change status to online
Actual Results:
Account status changes to online

Expected Results:
Since the proxy is down, an error should be presented

 - Facebook account works correctly

Could you check that I'm understanding you correctly.

You're reporting 2 bugs:

1) GTalk does not use the System Proxy set in System Settings -> Network Settings -> Proxy.

If you set a proxy in the advanced settings of the GTalk account configuration it works

2) If you set a bad proxy in the advanced settings of the GTalk account you do not get any feedback/notification that it's broken?

Is this correct?
Comment 2 Mangas 2012-11-13 08:52:23 UTC
Hi,

1) is correct

As for 2) the problem is not that I don't see a notification the problem was it was connecting directly when I tried it

After reporting the bug and setting it all up again everything worked fine except 1) which in this case is just a nice to have.

Marking as confirmed because this is a known issue.

The connections are handled by a third party program (telepathy) so don't go through KDE code to get the latest proxy settings, which is why we replicate the options.

We can, however, at least default to KDE proxy settings.

I can't connect to my Facebook account via Jabber while other handlers like ICQ work. Checked with Wireshark and it queries a proxy address at first although I set use proxy to no in KDE settings, unchecked [ ] use proxy in Yast2 and also removed the proxy address there as well did a relogin. I don't know from where it pulls the proxy address from. All the other applications don't connect using the proxy which is unavailable if I don't connect via VPN.
