Description ralfgesellensetter 2012-10-26 14:17:33 UTC
Version: 4:4.4.5-2

Recently I viewed a large amount of photos on my camera's SD card,
using gwenview. In order to get some ranking, I rated my pictures.
Then I moved my picture files to a local hard disc.

Expected Behaviour:
Rating should be kept with Exif tags.

Observed Behaviour/Problem:
All ratings were lost!

I found no documentation about where gwenview stores ratings.
Maybe I just had to copy or rename some database file, but
no docs for this :/

Thanks
Ralf

According to
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=154&t=87166
this behavour is due to gwenview storing metadata
to the nepomuk database. Then, it is maybe a lack
of documentation, plus some missing export feature.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Plug in your cam's SD card
2. Rate your favorite pix
3. Move folder to hard disc.
Actual Results:
Ratings will be lost

Expected Results:
Ratings should be kept, internal feature "store changes to exif/jpeg" or the like could be helpfull...

One of the last comments there quote a script to ex/import tags from/to nepomuk to/from files.

Hi there, this bug has been identified to be related to nepomuk, the semantic searching system in prior versions of KDE. Please note that nepomuk has been replaced by Baloo. I'm going to close this bug due to the use of the new Baloo system. Please do file a new bug for frameworks-baloo if you happen to continue having issues with search.
