Description Dennis Schridde 2012-10-16 13:08:06 UTC
kde-telepathy-minimal in the Telepathy/KDE Ubuntu PPA currently depends on kde-telepathy-text-ui, but kde-telepathy-call-ui is not automatically installed. Users might expected to also get call support when installing kde-telepathy.

Package: kde-telepathy-minimal
State: installed
Automatically installed: yes
Version: 0.5.1ubuntu1~ppa1~precise1~ppa1
Priority: optional
Section: metapackages
Maintainer: Kubuntu Developers <kubuntu-devel@lists.ubuntu.com>
Architecture: all
Uncompressed Size: 26.6 k
Depends: kde-config-telepathy-accounts (>= 0.5.1), kde-telepathy-approver (>= 0.5.1), kde-telepathy-auth-handler (>= 0.5.1),
         kde-telepathy-contact-list (>= 0.5.1), kde-telepathy-integration-module (>= 0.5.1), plasma-widget-telepathy-presence (>= 0.5.1),
         kde-telepathy-text-ui (>= 0.5.1), telepathy-mission-control-5 (>= 1:5.12), telepathy-connection-manager

Reproducible: Always

Thanks for the report, however this is a problem that we cannot solve, you need to report this bug to Ubuntu/Kubuntu.

Rohan might provide with more details/solve this.

Hi
The reason it does not depend on kde-telepathy-call-ui is because I was strongly against shipping a component that depended on gstreamer-plugins-bad for video calls with GTalk users ( we can't ship gstreamer-plugins-bad on the ISO due to licensing issues ).

I originally tried to report it to the telepathy-kde group on Launchpad, but found not report-bug button, hence I reported it against telepathy on KDE. Should I have reported it on Launchpad to the Ubuntu group instead?

Thanks for your reply. Is it possible to add it to the Suggested: or Recommended: DEB fields? Or are these "dependencies" still too strong?

Good point. Since Ubuntu is in a freeze right now, please file a bug using the link above and I'll see if it can be SRU'd
