No debug symbols. Please install debugging package and  provide a better backtrace, since you can reproduce it everytime. I don't use openSUSE, so I don't know the name of the corresponding debug package.

Well, the backtrace and your description does not match. The backtrace implies you are dragging some tab. 

Does that "(root)" have special meaning?  You mean the problem happens *only* when 
running as root? 

Also, Ctrl+Shift+T is by default for opening new tab, while Ctrl+Shift+N is for opening new window. So I really wonder what exactly you are doing when the crash happens.

Finally, it would be great if you can check this problem using KDE SC 4.9 (even in a virtual machine).  4.7.2 is a little outdated, which is especially true for konsole because it receives many fixes and improvements in 4.8 and 4.9 .
