When I have multiple tabs open, having room@server.domain.com takes up a lot of room. I have set smaller names in the room favourites, and if these are available they should be used.

Would it make sense to do this as a channel hint from the calling code?

Dear user, unfortunately Telepathy is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
