Description Anand 2012-09-22 01:51:45 UTC
OS - Linux Mint KDE

Sadly, Gwenview application behaves in a disapproving manner while running slideshow with OpenGL transitions

Issue 1 (Medium) - Music does not start automatically in the background. User needs to click on Stop button and again Play to start the music.

Issue 2 (High) - Shows WHITE blank screen while running slideshow though effects take place with just a white photo.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Gwenview (KIPS plugin installed)
2. Run Advanced slideshow from Plugins > Tools Menu
3. Select sound tracks
4. Enable Video > Use OpenGL slideshow transitions and Transition effect as Random
5. Start Slideshow
Actual Results:
Issue 1 (Medium) - Music does not start automatically in the background. User needs to click on Stop button and again Play to start the music.

Issue 2 (High) - Shows WHITE blank screen while running slideshow though effects take place with just a white photo.

Expected Results:
- Music should start automatically in the background
- Runs slideshow showing the photos with random effects

Happy to furnish any other details. Tagged as major since slideshow is a must-have feature for an image viewer software.
BTW, am a fan of Gwenview otherwise.

This looks more like a bug in kipi plugins than in gwenview. Could you test if this also occurs when using the advanced slideshow under digikam? (It's in view -> slideshow -> advanced slideshow.)
Comment 2 Anand 2013-02-09 14:01:09 UTC
Yes, the issue persisted with digiKam as well.
I surmise the problem could be due to lack of graphics card support. I have Nvidia Gpx 540M with Optimus technology. It used to work fine when I tried launching the application with optirun <program_name>. But now due to some driver update, Open GL effects are not working at all.

I moved the bug to kipiplugins. Could you add the version of kipiplugins you are using, please?

If you can provide the information requested in comment #3, please add it.

4:3.0.0-precise~ppa2 seems to be the version (from Synaptic). Not sure if this is correct as it is not available as an option in version dropdown above.

Pls look in to the issue, i miss the Open GL effects in slideshow mode. I really liked the Cube effect.

Happy to furnish any other details, apologies for delay.

New Kipi-plugins 4.11.0 is available :

Can you reproduce the problem with this release ?

Hi,
Thanks for responding. Unfortunately am not in a position to test and can not confirm if it is working fine. Apologies for not being able to contribute.

Apologies, not using KDE at the moment so can't validate this anymore.

This problem is not reproducible with last 5.0.0
I close this file now. Re-open it if necessary.
