When I open the "Test..." log of the Akonadi service from the Akonadi settings window, there is a red X on a line "Error log for current Akonadi session exists". The only contents of that file are: Nepomuk Query Server not available I tried to find out from the web (e.g. Troubleshooting http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_4.4/Troubleshooting ) what to do about it, but there is no information about this error. The same error text is contained in this Troubleshooting item http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_4.4/Troubleshooting#Can.27t_initialize_character_set_latin1 but I can tell it's not the same error because in my case the only line in the error log is the one about the Nepomuk Query service. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Akonadi Settings and go to the Test... 2. Click on the Red X near "Error in the current akonadi session log" Actual Results: It says that "Nepomuk Query Server not available". The FAQ/Troubleshooting contains no info about how to fix this. Expected Results: There should be no errors in the log. Alternatively, the troubleshooting webpage should explain how to fix this. I don't even know what "Nepomuk query service" is or does or how this bug affects me...
I can confirm this behavior using KDE SC 4.9.3 Akonadi 1.8.1 Qt: 4.8.2 KDE: 4.9.3 Kontact: 4.9.3 on gentoo linux
I'm seeing this on KDE 4.10 beta (4.9.95). THough, it looks like a timing/dependency issue because sometimes after hitting "restart" akonadi or issuing a akonadictl restart the error is gone. I don't really know what is affected by this error...
Same problem with KDE 4.10.4. So nepomuk is not working. :(
I have the same problem after an upgrade from KDE 4.10.5 to 4.11.0 on kubuntu 12.04.

it also happens here (ArchLinux with virtuoso 6.17 and KDE 4.11).
(In reply to comment #7) > it also happens here (ArchLinux with virtuoso 6.17 and KDE 4.11). I think you mean 4.12 for Arch. Anyways, I confirm that it is still showing this error with kde SC 4.12
well today I updated in 4.12 ;). The bug is still there
On Fedora 19, I managed to get rid of that bug with the following: - install of the package mysql-connector-odbc - restart akonadi Note that I obviously use MySQL (actually MariaDB) as backend for Akonadi. KDE 4.11.5 Virtuoso 6.1.6 Hope this will be useful.
Akonadi 1.12 / kdepimlibs 4.13 doesn't check for Nepomuk anymore.
