I opened an MS Word docx manuscript to see if it worked with Calligra Words. It did, so I closed the document.  When I started to create a new Calligra document, the Calligra software crashed (It gave me an error message to that effect).  It did it twice with the same MS Word doucment, and the same behavior occurred on both occasions.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open an MS Word (docx) document.
2.Close the document
3.Create a new calligra word document (it crashes Calligra)
Actual Results:  
Calligra Words crashed.

Expected Results:  
Created a new Caligra words doucment.

Also please specify the exact version of calligrawords you use
