Description Helga Fischer 2012-08-23 16:26:10 UTC
Using two monitors (twinview), one DVI, one HDMI. A click on a URL (opening a new window) opens a window on the second monitor, but delivers no content, it stays white. The URL (link on the origin website) don't appear in the URL field.
For Example: Visit http://wikidesign.com/de-V.pl/Webdesign and click on ws-offsetdruck.de (URL at the end of these site). A new konqureror window appears on the second monitor but it will be empty.

Using the carrying link and clicking the middle button of the mouse will open a new tab with the content. The window without any content appears only using a second monitor.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
0. Using twinview/2 monitors!
1. Visit a website
2. Klick on a link with opening a new window
3. The new windows appears without any content

Expected Results:
New window with the content of the URL I have clicked on on the second monitor.

There is no crash; this problem appeared also on KDE 4.8.*; I am using KDE 4.9.

This problem should solved. Not all websites let to use the middle click to open a new tab. For example: Download sites. Have a look at http://contao.org/de/download.html. For downloading this software I had to change my browser. konqueror wasn't able to manage this download, because loading an empty window.

I don't have a second monitor so I cannot reproduce this problem. However, as a workaround you can check the "Open popups in new tab instead of in new window" in the "General" section of the Konqueror configuration dialog (Settings->Configure Konqueror). Also, which "browser engine" were you using ? Did you try with the other "browser engine", the one that you are not currently using ?

Sorry for my late answer. Now I tried both browser engines (KHTML and WebKit). WebKit opens a new window oh the second screen, KHTML opens a new tab - both clicking left with the mouse.
Yes, for 'solving' this problem I'm using the contextmenue on the right button of the mouse. But I have had a situation there this workaround did not work. I want to start a download, but I don't get a new tab.
Using Firefox I saw that there was a popup window presenting a information about a licence. After confirming this licence my download starts. To get the download with konqueror was not possible - clicking right for contextmenue had no effect. Firefox opened a new window on my second screen. (What a pitty that you have not a second one).
Now I' using KDE 4.9.1. The update has no effect on this behaviour.

Thank you for the feedback.
Comment 4 Helga Fischer 2012-09-25 07:05:43 UTC
Found an example for You. Sorry, this site is german: http://naldo.de/. Filling out start and destination you get time of departure. This result you get clicking on 'anfordern'. This opens a new empty window at the second screen. A middle click or 'open in a new tab' doesn't work. Firefox opens a new tab with content.
