Description George 2012-08-21 15:37:26 UTC
Hi,
after installing Kubuntu 12.04 and portation from kmail to kmail2 I can see the directory structure and paths but no email will be shown. Also I miss the "local folder". When I add a new one, kmail2 crashes too.
After that I always have to reinstall the software. Sometimes the (old) Kmail-Folder is shown. But also without any email.
Thanks

Reproducible: Always

Your bug report lacks some important information;

which exact version of Kmail is this about?
What are your email settings? Do you use POP or IMAP or dIMAP?

Please also give a step-by step instruction on how to reproduce your problem, else the bug report is not useful to the developers.

Reinstalling is seldom a solution, it is not unlikely that your problem is a configuration issue that might be solved in the forum: http://forum.kde.org/viewforum.php?f=215
Did you search there?

Dear Miriam,

thanks for your email.

My exact version of Kmail is 4.8.4 (German version). I have 2 imap accounts
working fine. My OS is Kubuntu 12.04.

The problem I have is only this:

a) after updating Kubuntu 11.04 to 12.04 and migration of Kmail by hand
(kmail-migrator --interactive) I can see the "local directory" and the "Kmail-
directory" (/home/user/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail).

b) inside the Kmail-directory (using Kmail) I see all of the directory
structure. In some directory you can find emails.

c) if you go deeper in stucture, e.g. the directories beginning with a ".",
there is no email (still using Kmail).

d) under dolphin I can see and open all of the emails with Kmail. But all in
seperate Kmail-windows.

e) it must be a bug. How can it be solved?

Hopefully this is enough information to get rid of the problem.

Thank you in advance

cheers

Thank you for the fast feedback.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
