Text is displayed oblique instead of upright. The rendering is OK in Konqueror using WebKit.

Previous comment and title refer to http://www.channelregister.co.uk/. However, with 4.9.1 the site doesn't show the problem.

This page does show the problem in 4.9.1:
http://www.wired.com/opinion/2012/09/raspberry-pi-insider-exclusive-sellout-to-sell-out

I will change the bug title accordingly to a more descriptive one.

I can reproduce this with a test case which includes:

<p>
<i><blockquote>
Blockquote italic
</i></blockquote>
</p>

The closing tags are in the wrong order, and rendered with KHTML, following text is in italic. WebKit and other engines work around the problem and display the following text correctly.

If the tags are swapped, like this:

<blockquote><i>
...
</blockquote></i>

the problem doesn't appear.
<blockquote><i>

I'll upload a test file.

Dear Bug Submitter,

This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond.

Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!
Comment 5 Graeme Hewson 2018-11-11 08:03:45 UTC
The problem is still present in Konqueror 5.0.97. I'm changing the bug title to more accurately reflect the test case. On consideration, I don't think this can be considered a bug, so I'm closing the report.
