Description Bernhard Seibold 2012-08-16 14:24:32 UTC
When clicking an url for example in a kmail message, nothing happens if the url-schema is uncommon. In my case, the url schema is "tel:" or "phone:".

KDEPIM should fall back to xdg-open or similar if there's no other url-handler available.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. send html-mail to self, containing link to tel:12345
2. open mail in kmail
3. click link
Actual Results:
Nothing happens

Expected Results:
kopete or another application that is registered for that URL should open.

but theses types of custom url is not defined.
So open-xdg will not open it. It will open browser by default...

No, usually kopete is registered for "tel" URIs (in the .desktop file), but of course any other schema can be registered too.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kdepim (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 4 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 22:32:17 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
