Steps to reproduce: 1. Right-click a file/folder in dolphin What happens: Dolphin becomes hung as does plasma and no menu appears. The way I figured out that is was kactivitiesmanagerd was by opening up the task manager and seeing the process at the top of the stack eatting around 20% of my CPU. I killed the process and plasma immediately became responsive again. I also opened up dolphin and was able to get the right-click menu without failure. This issue is 100% reproducible on Kubuntu 12.10 (quantal).
I confirm this behavior with 4.9.0 on Gentoo. Can any developer reproduce this bug?
This usually happens when kamd is not able to contact Nepomuk for some reason. (usually when nepomuk breaks down). Guessing I'll have to introduce even more safeguards to the code.
This also happens all the time with KDE 4.10 on openSUSE 12.2.
This is still occurring, although to a lesser extent, in KDE SC 4.10.1. What I experience is a long delay whenever I right click one something within dolphin. This delay can be 30 seconds or more on some targets.
These are mostly the same bug. The blocking occurs because of too much info passed between nepomuk and kamd. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 314575 ***
