Description Van damme 2012-08-15 11:38:14 UTC
I am new to Digikam and i istalled 2 days ago. When i run the program the first time, i give a directory with the pictures. After that i see installing main view and loading cameras and the application close. I reinstalled digikam several times (2.07 and 2.06) but always the same issue. I have a PC with windows 7 premium home and 64 bit program. When i tried to run gdb it give me the message "no debugging symbols found" and with debugview from windows "QSqldatabaseprivate::remove database: connectio 'ConnectionTest' is still in use, all queries will cease to work. error: property: info.category not found in Win32_DiskDrive. Debug: trying to load 'kio_file'.
I downloaded the instal progfram from sourgeforge.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.launch the program
2.
3.
Actual Results:
program closed

Expected Results:
run

I see the same issue on my Windows 7 x64 system; for me it only occurs when a certain USB stick is connected (Verbatim 8GB) - the stick is NTFS formatted. I don't have other sticks at hand to test them.

When I remove that stick I can use digiKam; the error message shown in the debugger is the same as reported initially.

If you also have a USB stick connected, you might want to try without it to see if that might provide a workaround for you as well?

digikam 4.13 startup screen stops at 'loading cameras', never got an install to work on my mavericks MBpro 7.1 (tried macports, homebrew, also straight from package). Always stopping at 'loading cameras' except for once today : stopped at ICC profiles.
Program is not closing, simply not responding (I've been waiting for loong times).

With next digiKam 5.0.0, we will provide a fully cross-compiled version Windows under Linux where a lots of problems have been fixed.
