Description jpxsat 2012-08-10 04:19:17 UTC
Knotes is part of Kontact, yet there's no way to keep it integrated with the desktop. It does not behave like a widget when it should (imho) -"show the desktop" hides knotes-
There's a widget from kdeplasma-addons that integrates perfectly with the desktop and it's very fancy (I think it's called "Notes")
My suggestion is to merge those two apps into one: essentially it would be the actual widget "Notes" but integrated into Kontact as Knotes does actually.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run knotes
2. Open multiple programs
3. I want to make a note on it
4. "Show desktop" = Knotes it's hidden now :(

Expected Results:
I'd expect for Knotes to stay on desktop as a widget (as the Widget "Notes" does)

- The actual Widget is very Fancy. A little of it to Knotes would be highly apreciated by end users I think.
- Knotes in the systray is a good option too, but from my experience the "Notes" (or Knotes) must be a widget and not disapear like other windows

On the other hand, widgets are always below all other windows, so you could not have a note displayed, while using other applications (unless you have the screen space to make windows smaller).

But what's expected from a note, @Christoph ?
I use it to make a little comment or to remember something specific. I assume that for larger tasks a notepad should be used... unless that's the goal of Knotes (and in wich case I won't insist about this ;)
You have a fair point @Christoph, and I should add to the behaviour this:
- Keep a tray icon for Knotes, when clicked all windows hide, Knotes is focused and the rest of the screen gets a pale colour. A click outside Knotes restore everything back.

Or can't exist a way for when the tray icon is pressed, the widget comes to the front and it comes back to desktop when clicking other windows?
