Description apache 2012-08-09 19:11:04 UTC
I use Active Screen Edge Actions for Desktop Grid effects. I like it a lot. Very useful feature but I want to suggest one option.
There are activation and reactivation delay. I set them to my liking which is activation delay time = 0, because I like instant reaction. The problem is that often when I take make hands off the mouse I move cursor to the corner. It is kind of a habitual behaviour when I don't want the cursor to disturb or just accidentally. Would it be possible to introduce option that active screen edge would be optionally activated with mouse click, please?

Of course you can say that I can coordinate my movements more and move mouse to different area, but when I use different effect with different screen edges plus auto-hide panels it is really not very convenient to pay attention, remember where mouse can be moved so that it wouldn't disturbed.

Reproducible: Always

regardless of the feature request:

It's kind of wrong - see http://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/unclutter/

Such a nice feature to have. I honestly think the reasoning referred to is misguided (using a misunderstanding of a barely related abstract theory to "prove" the opposite of what a few of us know to be true by concrete practice). But if the developers don't like the idea, for whatever reason, it's not going to happen, and I accept that.

I commented the reasoning there and I must tell it is not very convincing. If you don't want to do it you can just say that you don't want to do it, but there is no way to predict how many users will use this option - I was thinking about option not about changing the whole screen edge activation mechanizm.
