Description Franz Trischberger 2012-08-09 06:08:52 UTC
The size of the selection icon depends on the zoom level of the view. Nevertheless there are hard-to-use zoomlevels. In a medium zoomlevel, the selector can cover up to 1/4 of the icon, in smaller zoomlevels it gets hard to click the selector.
What's even worse is the form of the "+": it has quite a lot of uncovered space in the right bottom. I have a friend who can get really mad, when he accidently hits that area, because he just don't know the sensible area is a square and not the "+".

I want to propose to move the selection icon slightly out of the icon. There is plenty of unused space around the icon. In order to make sure the connection between the file icon and the selection icon can be recognized, a border could be drawn around the them, possibly including the filename.

Reproducible: Always

This depends on the settings. If you use, e. g., the Details View with a small zoom level, there is hardly any unused space. Therefore, moving the selection marker out of the icon might not always work as expected.
