CTRL+Return is a combination of keys too easy to be hit by accident (typing fast CTRL+V followed by Return, for example). Sending an unfinished e-mail is an action that can't be reverted. The shortcut for sending out the composed e-mail should be either very hard to hit by accident (say ALT+Shift+SomeLetter)... or maybe a confirmation dialog... or maybe even no shortcut at all... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Compose a new mail 2. Hit CTRL+Return by accident Actual Results: Unfinished mail is sent without confirmation Expected Results: The shortcut for sending out the composed e-mail should be either very hard to hit by accident (say ALT+Shift+SomeLetter)... or maybe a confirmation dialog... or maybe even no shortcut at all...
I agree, it should be possible to assign a different shortcut (or no shortcut) to the Send action. As a workaround, you can "require confirmation before sending", see KMail configuration, page for Accounts, the Sending tab, near the bottom. Then at least you have to hit Return accidentally twice before anything bad happens...
CTRL+Return by accident ?:) but I can press "ALT+Shift+SomeLetter" by accident too :) CTRL+Return is default for all mailer so I will not change it. and as Christian wrote "As a workaround, you can "require confirmation before sending"" so you can activate it and it will resolve your problem. Regards
I disagree with this resolution, for the following reasons: * KDE provides a generic method to assign keyboard shortcuts to application actions, and KMail2 should support this. (At least for some very important actions such as Sending an email.) * It doesn't matter what other email clients do. I'm using KMail2, not something else. So that's no valid reason to close this bug. * It really is easy to send emails by accident. This issue should be taken more seriously. Please reopen this bug or close it as "WONTFIX". It certainly is not INVALID. Thanks! Or should this be a more general bug to add configurable keyboard shortcuts to KMail, in the same way other KDE programs implement them? Other bugs, eg bug 155132, have noted the lack of keyboard shortcuts in KMail.
