Description Marcus Harrison 2012-08-03 23:05:18 UTC
I have several contacts in my addressbook who I know best from their nicknames, which are also recorded in their contacts. When searching for them by nickname, initially they do not appear: however, after searching for them through their display name/E-mail address, and having them successfully appear as an auto-complete suggestion, searching for them by nickname successfully suggests them for auto-completion.

Reproducible: Always

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

I have just tested this in KMail 4.14.10 from Fedora RPM packages. Auto-completion still appears to only search the "Name" and "E-mail" fields recorded in KAddressBook, and not the "Nickname" field.

I'll investigate building or otherwise installing a Frameworks-based version of KMail.
