%OADDRESSEESADDR in Geman environment tranlates to "Bis: " plus the list of adressees While i am not sure if the prefix shoul be there at all, i am absolutely sure the correct translation for "To" is "An" in this context, not "Bis". Can you please state your KDE and KMail versions? We have seen that problem for quite some time now but weren't really able to reproduce it clearly.

Hi, I attached the template for forwarding messages. I do have kmail-4.8.5-358.1.x86_64 like Michael. Still, it expands %OADDRESSEESADDR the wrong way. If I put a %OADDRESSEESADDR in my reply-template, it gets expanded to the same faulty "Bis:...". If this is a migration issue, which part of my kde/kmail config should be fixed/erased to test/fix that?
Sorry, I just noticed something else: Why is "To:" even in %OADDREESADDR ["all original recipients"]? Everything else (Subject, Date, From) is written in the template, only To is inside the variable itself. I don't know if this is the intended design (maybe it is for evaluation of possible plural forms). I questioned the necessity of the prefix in my original report. Meanwhile, I found that if you have both To: and CC: fields in your original mail, the %OADDREESADDR expands to To: ... CC: ... which makes sense to me. So you can determine who got the orginial message as direct adressee or as carbon copy.

Yes, it's exactly the same file that I have (md5sum matches: b2636a22c235b3ae92a632a2d4967326). This file however contains the correct translation ("An:"). Since everything else is translated correctly I'm pretty confident that the file is loaded. Yes, I see the same version number as you (seems the latest kde4-l10n package didn't built in the build service: https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor?blocked=0&building=0&dispatching=0&finished=0&project=KDE%3ARelease%3A48&scheduled=0&signing=0&succeeded=0 ). But that shouldn't be much of a problem. Forgive me for this question: But did you try to restart your machine after the upgrade?
Yep, machine was rebooted right after the upgrade. And at least one other time, only a few hours ago. I tried $ locate templateparser /usr/lib/debug/usr/lib64/libtemplateparser.so.4.8.0.debug /usr/lib64/libtemplateparser.so.4 /usr/lib64/libtemplateparser.so.4.8.0 /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/libtemplateparser.mo and found that I have kdepim4-debuginfo-4.8.5-358.1.x86_64 installed. Is this a possible source of error/difference?
To be honest, I've run out of ideas (but then again, I'm not a KDEPIM dev, just a translator). Since the debug packages are not necessary to run KDEPIM you can try uninstalling it and see if it works (you should at least log out and log in afterward to force a reload of the libraries). You could also try to use rpm --verify to check the integrity of the packages (I'd check at least kdepim4, don't think there could be anything wrong with the language pack)
Another thing you could try is to create a new user and see if this behavior is reproducible.
Reason for this bug in kde 4.8.x is a missing i18nc context (localization issue). Was fixed in 4.9 and master with https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdepim/repository/revisions/a3fcf3104ef4f3a652c7d06df5005a25ef4dc6cf/diff/templateparser/templateparser.cpp
The missing context could explain the wrong translation. But the translation Mara uses should be fixed already (see the attached .mo file - you can convert it to a po file again by using "msgunfmt libtemplateparser.mo > libtemplateparser.po" (of course it misses some information compared to the original .po file)). In this version "To:" is already translated as "An:". The question (at least as I see it, but I might be wrong of course) is why doesn't kmail (or libtemplateparser) utilize them? (Might be a non translation problem again or just some random weirdness that appears in computing from time to time)
It's correctly translated in that file, but since the missing/wrong/different context the template stuff picks a different translation from some other catalog.
Leaves me curious why it shows on my system but not on Michael's who said he uses the same packages from the same repository.

Each kde application first loads the translation catalog of the application (kmail), then the six system translation catalogs (libphonon, kio4, kdelibs4, kdeqt, solid_qt, kdecalendarsystems - see kdelibs/kdecore/localization/klocale_kde.cpp) automatically + in this special case another 10 catalogs via kmail/kmstartup.cpp before the libtemplateparser catalog with the translation "To:"->"An:" is loaded. With the libtemplateparser catalog from kde svn 4.9 branch "To:" is a unique message in all translation catalogs due to the i18c context. But with the catalogs from 4.8.x a translation of "To:" found in one of the catalogs loaded before libtemplateparser is returned to the gettext query for the translation of ."To:"
Wow, that was a long and insighting explaination. Thank you very much Burkhard for ticking it down to us disbeliefers. So Mara has some additional packages installed where "To" is translated with "Bis" (probably correct for the different context).
