amarok debug output when trying to play flac file

Today I tried to play flac files with amarok, but to no avail. Amarok loads the lyrics in the context view but no sound is audible. I can play the file with mplayer, though.

Versions:
Amarok Version: 2.5.90
KDE Version: 4.8.90 (4.8.90)
Qt Version: 4.8.1
Phonon Version: 4.6.0
Phonon Backend: GStreamer (4.6.0)
PulseAudio: Yes

mplayer output when playing the same file

Using mplayer the file is working fine.
Comment 2 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-07-31 08:03:26 UTC
You are comparing apples with oranges, there :) Mplayer doesn't use phonon like Amarok does for playing sound.
Please use the phonon-backend-vlc instead of the gstreamer one to see if that helps.

Amarok --debug output when using vlc backend

I am well aware that mplayer does not use phonon, thank you ;)
I just thought the output could provide additional information. Anyway, the vlc backend works fine on the file(s).
Comment 4 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-08-02 11:57:34 UTC
The debug output is not really useful as you don't have set the phonon variables. Please add these (http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/Phonon):

$ export PHONON_DEBUG=5
$ export PHONON_BACKEND_DEBUG=5
$ export PHONON_PULSEAUDIO_DEBUG=5
$ export PHONON_VLC_DEBUG=5
$ export PHONON_GST_DEBUG=5

and provide the output again for the gstreamer backend.

Amarok --debug output with gstreamer backend and debug variables set

Ok, here it goes. PulseAudio continues to find stream indexes. Apart from that, nothing (audible) happens.

Forgot to change the status.
Comment 7 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-08-07 15:19:53 UTC
Could you please provide a full output? Also it might be helpful to provide the faulty file to the developer this report is assigned to.

full output

I do not exactly know what you mean by full output but I hope this one will suffice.
Comment 9 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-08-08 20:34:08 UTC
Well, for some strange reason your last output file doesn't contain the phonon variables anymore. Could you make sure these are set and then provide a full Amarok output when that happens?
That is what I mean with a full output: have all debug variables set and provide a full output when you try to play the particular file.

Comment 11 Torrie Fischer 2012-09-23 10:46:45 UTC
Could you provide the file in question? This is likely an upstream bug.
Comment 12 Martin 2012-09-23 20:06:59 UTC
I wrote to both Harald Sitter and Myriam Schweingruber and provided them with a link to the file. I did not recieve any confirmation from them, though. Is there a way for sending the file I am supposed to be using?
Comment 13 Torrie Fischer 2012-09-23 22:17:49 UTC
Got the file from Myriam. Seeing as how mplayer handles it fine, It is an upstream decoder bug.
Comment 14 Torrie Fischer 2012-09-24 09:23:20 UTC
Here's the upstream bug for tracking: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=684701

Hi, GStreamer developer here. Would it be possible for a sample file to be made available? The first few megabytes might be enough to reproduce the issue.
Comment 16 Martin 2013-03-08 20:01:04 UTC
Since this is fixed upstream: Does anyone know when this reaches phonon-gstreamer? I have version 4.6.2 right now and cannot play the file.
