I told KDE to shut down.  The window manager shut down first and I got a crash notification in KWrite on a dark background.

Sorry, can't reproduce this. I logged now in and out 10 times and it works ok with a KWrite having two windows open, even if it asks me for confirmation to write a file or not that is modified :( Need way to reproduce it to fix this.

Logging in at out is unlikely to reproduce this bug.  You need to log in, edit something, do a bazillion unrelated things in other applications and log out after several hours.  And I cannot guarantee a crash in that case either :-)
