I am pretty sure that this is somehow related to the face recognition/tagging crashes as per 269720. I'm logging this as a separate item because the backtrace is a little different to the usual although it does match the backtrace in comment #1 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=269720#c1

In this instance I had NOT run the face recognition engine. I was just reviewing the pictures of previously recognised (a few days/weeks ago) but "Unknown" tagged images. I was going through and checking that each picture had all of the appropriate faces recognised and if any had been missed I was manually adding Unknown tags for later naming of people.

I had started digikam from a terminal window and the following is the start of the backtrace emitted at the terminal (the remainder of the backtrace is reproduced in the stacktrace).
