Hide log entry in KMenu
Comment 1 Daniel Vrátil 2012-07-15 17:02:33 UTC
What is the reasoning behind this?

Removing the .desktop file means that user would have to open contact list, find the contact, open text-ui and there click "Previous Conversations", instead of directly opening the logviewer and just finding the contact. This might get even more complicated when using "Hide offline contacts" in contact list....

It was talked about in the KTp meeting that you were at :)

Rationale was (I think): A button in the contact-list (even in the main menu not just the context menu) seems a place where a user is more likely to find the logs than making it look completely separate.

I'm happy to have this topic of discussion reopened if you disagree.

Was I ? Sorry, probably didn't care enough back then O:-)

Anyway - I agree that many users will open the logviewer from contacts list or text-ui, but I don't understand why this should be a reason to remove the logviewer from KMenu, since unlike ktp-text-ui it actually can work as a separate application.

David, are you ok with closing this as invalid/wontfix?

Unless someone comes with a real reason why not to, I wan to keep logviewer available as a standalone application like Contact list.
