I have an IMAP AOL email account configured in KMail and when I try to read the emails I get the following message on a pop up window:

Unable to fetch item from backend

The terminal output when I get this message and after closing it, is this:

So then, I can't read the emails but KMail shows I have new emails

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Configure an IMAP AOL email account on KMail
2.Get new emails for the named account, is shown the message: Unable to fetch item from backend and can't read the emails
Actual Results:  
KMail can't show the emails in the AOL account

Expected Results:  
Kmail can show the emails in the AOL account

I have another IMAP AOL email account configured on KMail, but I have no problem with this one.

The account having problems has 9000+ emails, the another one, without problems, only has 505

Also, now I remember that in the account with problems, I removed some emails (I don't remember whether from web or through KMail). I am not sure but I think the problem began when I removed those emails.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

I installed Kmail in Fedora 24 WS 64 in version 16.08.1-1.fc24. The result was after first start without any problems. But after adding a account from aol, the software crashes. After a restart of the pc, the error was reproducable. After theis knowledge I uninstalled the program.

Stefan, thank you for your feedback. I'm not entirely sure if this is still the same bug, since KMail did not crash according to earlier reports, but I reopen nonetheless.

Also, this seems to be problem with Akonadi instead of KMail, reassigning.
