Description apache 2012-07-05 14:41:14 UTC
Kubuntu 12.04 KDE 4.8.4 32-bit
http://img31.otofotki.pl/ov989_screenshot2.png.html
I have Italic icon names on desktop. In system settings I have all fonts set as regular. As you can see on sceenshot text file has regular font name, while program icon's names are Italic.
When I click on an icon and press F2 to change icon's name in name edit field they became regular but when I exit this edit mode they still are Italic.

Reproducible: Always

What you have on your desktop are symbolic links. Simply copy the .desktop files instead of linking them, and they won't show up as links.

Indeed they look like links.

user@axel:~/Desktop$ ls -l

But I have them in my desktop folder. From where to where exactly should I copy them?

This is all in desktop "Folder view" mode. But I added them from right mouse click → add new program shortcut. Actually when I use Kickoff and right click "add to desktop" the effect is the same. It also creates links.
Only when I add icons to desktop from Kickoff in "default desktop" mode icon's text is regular.
The problem is that I don't like "default desktop" mode.

Is there any configuration file where font style for links are set? Maybe I just could change this setting and keep shortcuts.
I don't understand your advice: "Simply copy the .desktop files instead of linking them, and they won't show up as links."

In folder view when I use kickoff and option add (icon) to desktop it creates symbolic links. For example the content of entry for Dolphin is here:

And privileges cannot be changed. Content cannot be edited.

Is it expected behaviour or a bug?

Well, copy as "make a copy" of the .desktop file

This is not a bug but expected behavior.

Ok. I got it. Instead of right click in Kickoff it is enough to just drug and drop an icon from Kickoff to desktop with left mouse, without clicking because it opens application. No need to unlock widget to do that. I think I thought it must be more complicated. :)
Thank you for your help.

But while we are about it I would expect that right click in kickoff and use of "add to desktop" option should also copy the entry (icon) but not create links on the desktop. I mean links to folder are ok, but links to programs seems to be out of place a litlle bit. This is not criticizm, I just don't get it why it was designed to create links in case of programs.
