Description parejaobregon 2012-07-03 19:47:28 UTC
After opening the search box (CTRL+F) I am unable to input acute accents in vowels (á, é, í, ó, ú, etc) using the keyboard ( ´ + vowel ). This results in words in certain languages to be "cut" and not being able to search for half the words in (at least) spanish. It does however work if I copy/paste them from any editor into the search box.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any file
2. Open the search box (CTRL + F)
3. Try to input an acute accent via the keyboard (for example á via " ´ + a ")
Actual Results:
No vowel is input.

Expected Results:
An acute vowel should appear in the search box.

I'm using UTF-8 both in my system and in the files.

Can you describe exactly what happens when you try to input such a word? (in particular what happens after you press ´) Thanks.

When you use a spanish or US international keyboard layout, and you intend to write a word which includes an acute vowel (wich is very common in spanish) you have to press the ´ key followed by the vowel. The result is á, é, í, ó or ú depending on the vowel you input. This works right in the text editor. But when you do the same in the search box, the vowel is skipped altogether.

For example, if you want to input "día" (day in spanish) you press "d + ´ + i + a". Again, in the text editor this works right, but in the search box the result is "da", which makes me unable to search certain words (although I can write it in the text editor and copy/paste it into the search box as a turnarround).

Additionally, I recently discovered this issue appears only the first time the search box is used. That is, if I search any giberish, close the search box and search again, the acute vowels can be input.

Ok, I can reproduce this with KWrite. Forwarding to KatePart.
