last week i tried to update the linux os to oneiric 11.10..
due to power failure the system down....
and the next time switched on the system there is no sound...
and when i try to access system setting and update the software... it says "An Unknown Error Occured.............!!"

Please ask in a user support forum how to re-install packages to make sure they are not corrupted.
