Description Axel Krebs 2012-06-30 13:05:14 UTC
I recently installed digikam V. 2.6 on two machines.

First thing I do, is always configure a program.

When doing so and trying to save the changed configuration, it takes 4:30 to 5 minutes until konfig windows closes.

First check: changes were accepted.

Axel

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. just open config windoiw
2. save this window
3. no you´ll have enough time for a cup of coffee ;-) !
Actual Results:
inacceptable, irritating, not ergonomic

Expected Results:
should save within seconds- at maximum

observed on two quadcore 64 bit machines

I guess it is the album scanning which takes some time. Do you have configured / added new collections?
Comment 2 Axel Krebs 2012-06-30 14:40:19 UTC
I´m not quite sure what you mean with
"...configured / added new collections?"

There are some eight collections of different size, but all of these on
the same SATA II hard disk drive...

I NEVER see this problem on my computerS.

What do you change on your settings ? What are you set about collections (removable, network, etc...)

What's about DB configuration ? It's a network mysql server ?

We need more info to investiguate. You can shared you digikam settings with your ~/.kde4/share/config/digikamrc.

Hello Gilles:

Why do you scream "NEVER"?

Of course, I share this information, as I want to help as much as I can
without programming knowledge. Hope this is ok

I deactivated the piwigo export feature.

I use sqlite, no mysql server.

On my machine, the config file is under
/home/ak/.kde/share/config/digikamrc (screenshot).

It´s content is as follows:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
		please see attachment
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hope this helps?

This problem is not reproducible with last 5.0.0.
I close this file now. Don't hesitate to re-open it if necessary.
