Right now, it is not possible to use multiple X/KDE sessions at once using LightDM-KDE (besides switching manually using chvt or Alt+F7 etc.). Using 0.1.1 (not selectable as 'Version').
Could you explain how you normally switch sessions in more detail please?
Sorry, my initial report was a little unclear. What is missing is the following functionality, which is provided by KDM, but not by LightDM-KDE: 1. When terminating (using "Logout" in KDE) a 2nd X session, LightDM-KDE remains at the 2nd X session and waiting for logging in again, while KDM properly terminates the 2nd X session and returns to the 1st running X session again 2. KDM provides an option in the login dialog, to switch to another running X session, LightDM-KDE doesn't
Thanks. Part 1 needs to be handled by upstream, and it's not necessarily wrong right now, if you want it changed go to https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm From now on this bug will only be referring to part 2, which I completely agree with.
As long as #2 is implemented, I'm fine with not having #1 :-)
This bug is also reported in the Red Hat Bugzilla for Fedora Rawhide on https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=859347 . There is a duplicate of this report: Bug 305632
I withdraw my comment #5 - the symptoms of the bugs are different and the bug is not a duplicate.
Here is the upstream bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/851612
We no longer use lightDM, having moved to SDDM several years ago. As such, this bug report is no longer applicable. Bugs reports for the new SDDM-based login screen should be filed to one of two places: 1. Visual/UI bugs with the login screen UI itself, or feature requests: plasmashell | Theme - Breeze 2. Bugs with the login/user switching process: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues
