Description Martin 2012-06-27 17:07:01 UTC
This is my first bug/request so I hope I'm following guidelines correctly.

Requesting a feature added to Okular -
- capability to delete files or "move-to-trash" in Okular, either with keyboard-shortcut or right-click
There is no PDF application either for linux or any operating system that does that.
I have over 5000 PDF files which need to be reviewed and sorted.
PLEASE, please, please write that feature into Okular :)

Reproducible: Didn't try

Hi Martin, thanks for the report and caring about Okular.

I am sorry to say that the fact that no other application of the same kind implements this feature kind of tells me that is a feature that does not belong to this type of applications.

I'm not closing this wish item, since we are open minded but it's going to need more people than just you agreeing in that this is a sane feature for a document viewer to include.

Thanks again for your feedback

Just my 2c. I would say that this request is more suited for a "book manager" application, something like, for example :
http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Book+Manager?content=137437

Feature EXISTS in OSX SnowLeopard -
Command-Backspace “Move to trash” keyboard shortcut in PDF-preview
(equivalent would be alt+backspace I thinkk)
What I had in mind really .. would be filemanager-behaviour type of thing -
- trash an open PDF file with keyboard shortcut and open next file immediately .. and so on..

Please :)
Martin :)

I'm really glad someone replied to my bug/request.
I know software development is timeconsuming process.
but ..
There is a million features missin in Okular, especially compared to other PDF viewers -
Evince, Foxit, Acrobat, pdf-xchange, etc etc

Great way to encourage people, tell them their software sucks :-)

"I am sorry to say that the fact that no other application of the same kind implements this feature kind of tells me that is a feature that does not belong to this type of applications."

And I'm sorry to say this is a fallacy, my dear Albert ;-D

As @Martin well pinted, this is a _much needed_ option not only in Okular but in every other application that manipulates documents and that a "File -> Move to trash" option should be included in every app that, as I already said, works with documents.

I'm not only eager to see this feature built in Okular (may be the best PDF viewer existing, thanks for such a great work) but platform-wide in all KDE SC applications that could make use of it.

A big +1 for @Martin request.

Cheers.
